Are you a "do-er?"
You fill empty holes in your calendar with social activities or even cleaning
You feel antsy and restless when you aren't busy
Wear your busy-ness like a badge of honor (I'm soo busy!)
Taking action is not a bad thing
Taking action helps you
* Achieve goals
* Build confidence
* Develop habits
* Grow as a person
But sometimes action comes at the expense of BEING
* Present in the moment
* Present with your loved ones
* Fulfilled and happy where you are right now
Your brain wants you to believe that doing more is for your benefit
By doing more
* You are maximizing your life and experiences
* You are avoiding time with your own messy thoughts and emotions
* Achievements will bring you the attention and validation you crave
But here is what really happens
* You lose out on the experiences and connections that truly make life rich and meaningful
* You miss the opportunity to process your thoughts, emotions and experiences which can lead to feeling constantly on edge and anxious
* You alienate those around you when your focus is on yourself and what you've accomplished
You can be more present and enjoy each moment; here are 5 tips to get started
✳️ Put distractions away (phones, computers, tablets)
✳️ Use your senses - pay attention to what you hear, smell, see, feel and taste as you go through your day
✳️ Try journaling or verbally describing a walk, meal or other experience
✳️ Listen actively when in conversation
✳️ Do only one task at a time (no multitasking!)
What does being more present this week look like for you?
"If you miss the present moment, you miss your appointment with life"
